Background of the Study
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted workplace operations, necessitating employer support programs to assist employees in adapting to new work conditions. These programs included financial assistance, mental health support, remote work policies, and workplace safety measures (Olawale & Musa, 2023). Effective employer support programs played a vital role in maintaining employee well-being, productivity, and job satisfaction.
In Kano State, various organizations implemented different levels of support programs. Some employers provided financial relief and flexible work schedules, while others struggled to meet employee needs due to financial constraints. Studies indicate that organizations with comprehensive employee support programs reported higher worker morale and productivity (Bello & Usman, 2024).
This study will evaluate employer support programs in Kano State during the pandemic. It will assess the effectiveness of these programs, identify gaps, and propose improvements for future crises.
Statement of the Problem
The pandemic exposed the need for robust employer support programs to help employees cope with workplace disruptions and health risks. However, the level of support varied across industries, with some employees receiving substantial assistance while others faced job insecurity and inadequate workplace protections.
Despite the relevance of employer support programs, limited research has been conducted in Kano State to assess their effectiveness during the pandemic. Understanding how these programs impacted employee well-being and productivity can inform better workplace policies in future health emergencies. This study aims to evaluate employer support programs and recommend strategies for improvement.
